Cookie Policy

Last updated: 28 June 2026 · Version 1.0

This policy explains how STEMHQ Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and platform, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include localStorage and session storage. They let a site remember your actions and preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used.

2. The categories we use

We group everything we set into three categories. Only essential cookies are active without your consent.

CookieCategoryPurposeRetention
Session tokenEssentialKeeps you securely signed in (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax)Session / 30 days
CSRF tokenEssentialProtects state-changing requests against cross-site forgerySession

Display preferencesFunctionalDark mode, sidebar state, display settings (localStorage)Until cleared
AnalyticsAnalytics (off by default)Aggregate, privacy-respecting usage measurementUp to 24 months

3. Essential cookies

These are strictly necessary for the platform to function, authentication, security, and remembering your consent choice. They do not require consent under PECR because the service cannot be provided without them. They cannot be switched off through our banner.

4. Functional cookies

These remember preferences such as dark mode and layout. They are stored in your browser’s localStorage and are not transmitted to our servers. They are on by default and can be cleared through your browser settings.

5. Analytics cookies

Analytics are off by default and set only if you give consent via our cookie banner. They measure aggregate usage to help us improve the product. We use no advertising cookies, run no cross-site tracking, and sell no data to advertising networks.

6. Managing your choices

  • Use the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or the Cookie Settings option in your account menu, to change your consent at any time.
  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the platform working.
  • Withdrawing analytics consent takes effect immediately for future page loads.

7. Third-party cookies

Payment flows are handled by Stripe, which may set its own cookies necessary for secure payment and fraud prevention when you reach checkout. These are governed by Stripe’s own cookie and privacy policies.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in the law. The date above always reflects the most recent revision.
