This policy explains how STEMHQ Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and platform, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include localStorage and session storage. They let a site remember your actions and preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used.
We group everything we set into three categories. Only essential cookies are active without your consent.
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session token | Essential | Keeps you securely signed in (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax) | Session / 30 days |
| CSRF token | Essential | Protects state-changing requests against cross-site forgery | Session |
| Cookie consent | Essential | Remembers your consent choices | 12 months |
| Display preferences | Functional | Dark mode, sidebar state, display settings (localStorage) | Until cleared |
| Analytics | Analytics (off by default) | Aggregate, privacy-respecting usage measurement | Up to 24 months |
These are strictly necessary for the platform to function, authentication, security, and remembering your consent choice. They do not require consent under PECR because the service cannot be provided without them. They cannot be switched off through our banner.
These remember preferences such as dark mode and layout. They are stored in your browser’s localStorage and are not transmitted to our servers. They are on by default and can be cleared through your browser settings.
Analytics are off by default and set only if you give consent via our cookie banner. They measure aggregate usage to help us improve the product. We use no advertising cookies, run no cross-site tracking, and sell no data to advertising networks.
Payment flows are handled by Stripe, which may set its own cookies necessary for secure payment and fraud prevention when you reach checkout. These are governed by Stripe’s own cookie and privacy policies.
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in the law. The date above always reflects the most recent revision.
